ROAD SCHOLAR PROGRAMS

Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Badlands: Expanding Horizons

Program #4752

Enjoy the fun of shared time together as you explore Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain carving, the Badlands, and the Black Hills. Learn how Mt. Rushmore came to be carved out of solid granite and learn about each of the four Presidents carved there. Discover ancient fossils in the Badlands, go horseback riding, and pan for gold like Potato Creek Johnny. During the week we'll travel the "wildlife loop" road in search of buffalo, ride an original 1880 steam locomotive train through the beautiful back-country behind Mt. Rushmore, splash in a historic warm water spring and visit a mammoth sink hole. Cook over an open campfire and explore one of the longest caves in the world. Learn, laugh, share, and create memories for both generations.
